On December 12 local time, an EU spokesperson stated that member states' finance ministers have reached an agreement. Starting in 2026, a 3-euro (approximately 25 RMB) tax will be imposed on all small parcels imported into the EU to address the influx of cheap goods from Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Shein and Temu. The small parcel tax policy is set to take effect on July 1, 2026, as a temporary measure until the EU reaches a permanent solution for taxing such imports. It will come into effect on July 1, 2026
